This is a remix I did of Seven Nation Army in 2005 I think. It seems to have started bubbling up on a number of cool blogs over the past few weeks, usually in a pretty lofi form, and since it is next to impossible to buy, I thought I would post a better quality version here.

People are seeming to think it is a remix of the White Stripes original, but actually it is a remix of a cover version done by Openair, for release on Skint records. The record seemed to disappear into development hell, and to the best of my knowledge never really got released properly despite being quite popular.

For reasons best known to me at the time I decided to make the track into some kind of disco meets basement jaxx party number, and I recorded a whole disco track on bass, guitar, 70s synths, drums and live brass, in my bedroom, mixed it down, then sampled it and cut it up to make this mix. That was really at the tail end of the “Room 5 Make Luv” era disco house and was probably kind of going out of fashion. in 2009 however, with disco making a big resergence in London, the track seems to have a bit of relevence again, though I wouldn’t make it sound exactly like this if I were making it today.

Anyway, its something of a lost classic, that people seem to like, so have a listen.
